Description MS in Italian on paper, Bonn, 1805, 2 vols, 14+6 pp., 20x24 cm, single column, (18x22 cm), ruled with 14 staves with corrections, by a single copyist, marked up by and for the printer.
Binding England, 19th c., half morocco gilt, sewn on 4 cords, with title "Mendelssohn, Beethoven".
Context Beethoven's autograph is lost. His corrected Stichvorlage was sold at Sotheby's 23.5.2007:8, and was used for Simrock's first edition. The present Stichvorlage was made before printing from Beethoven's corrected Stichvorlage, and used for Birchall authentic parallel first edition in London. There is no other surviving example of a printer's MS for any of the other authentic English parallel first editions of Beethoven.
