Commentary Dvorak (1841-1904) finished symphony no 7 on 17 March 1885, and it was premiered on 22 April in London. It is usually considered to be his greatest symphony, even if the 9th symphony "From the New World" is the most popular. The present excerpt of the second subject theme first appears at bar 73 in the 1st movement and is recapitulated in the tonic key of D-major at bar 214.
