Description MS in German on paper, Wien 1890, 1 p 21x33 cm, ruled with 16 staves, in double staff and single staff notation, autograph.
Context The First symphony was composed in 1865-1866 and was first performed in Linz, in a version today known as the Linz version. In 1890 Bruckner (1824-1896) started to rework his earlier symphonies. The orchestration of the First symphony was heavily reworked, while the substance of the symphony remained unchanged. The reworked first symphony was premiered in Wien on 13 December 1891 with great success.

Published These sketches are unpublished. Listed in Grassberger: Bruckner-Werkverzeichnis (1977):101 p 110. The Wien version of the whole symphony was published by Döblinger, Wien 1893.
