Description MS in German, French, Hungarian and Italian on paper, Budapest, Esterhazy, Wien, Graz, Elbersfeld, 1881-1926, 81 leaves 14x23 cm, up to 23 lines in various cursive scripts with numerous musical quotes, water-colours and drawings.
Binding Budapest, 1880, full leather gilt sewn on 2 cords.
Provenance 1. Mathias Vallent, Budapest (1881-1921) and heirs; 2. Hungarian bookseller at Stuttgart Antiquarian Bookfair (2013); 3. Musikantiquariat Dr. Ulrich Drüner, Stuttgart, acquired 20.5.2014.
Commentary Mathias Vallent, Hungarian violin virtuoso and Concert Master of the Budapest Symphony Orchestra. Luckily his "Stammbuch" or autograph album has not been broken up to sell the autograph contributions separately, so this quote by Brahms from his violin concerto is kept as he wrote it to his friend Mathias Vallent in Wien on 27th April 1884.
