Context Arthur Honegger (1892-1955), Swiss composer living in Paris, member of "Les Six". Besides the present operetta dedicated to the librettist and theatre director of les Buffes-Parisiens, he composed two more, as well as 7 operas, 4 oratorios, 2 ballets and 5 symphonies, applying highly coloristic harmonies and impressionistic use of the orchestra, following German romanticism, in a style more weighty and solemn than the other members in "les Six". Commentary Les aventures du roi Pausole was premiered at the theatre les Bouffes-Parisiens 12 December 1930, and the dedication reflects this: "Gardes ce petit morceau en souvenir de mon début aux Bouffes. Votre A Honegger 1930".
